Although Covid-19 restrictions are being relaxed, we are still working under different procedures at RSPCA Cornwall Branch and the Venton Centre.
Please see below for information on the current situation, which will be reviewed and updated as soon as restrictions change.
Throughout the Covid pandemic, it has been our priority to maintain sufficient staff at the Animal Centre to care for our animals. Even though restrictions are lifting in England on 19 July, we still need to observe precautions to safeguard the Centre staff, particularly whilst infection rates remain high in Cornwall.
For this reason, the site at St Columb will continue to be closed to general public visitors for the time being. Visits will be permitted by appointment only, for adoptions and other specific purposes, so please do not come into the Centre without contacting us first. Anyone attending an appointment will still be requested to wear a mask whilst inside our building please (exemptions permitted), and sanitiser will be available on entry.
If you have donations of items that we can use at the Centre – pet foods (unopened) and equipment, blankets, towels etc, we are able to accept these. Please leave in the porch area inside the front doors without entering the main building.
Your co-operation and understanding is appreciated.
Telephones and Contacting us
Our ‘phone lines are now open from 11.00am to 4.00pm every day except Wednesday, but it would be appreciated if calls could be kept for emergencies and urgent queries only please.
Our website contains information and links which may assist with your query or other ways to contact us.
We endeavour to reply to emails within 24 hours of receipt, so please allow our staff time to respond.
For animal cruelty and neglect complaints, injured animals and wildlife, strays and welfare complaints, please contact the National RSPCA (who assign work to the Inspectors) on 0300 1234999 or visit www.rspca.org.uk for more information.
If you are interested in adopting a specific animal or would like to register your general interest, please complete an online form – See the “How to Adopt” page. Once submitted, this uploads directly to our Centre database and our staff will respond to you as soon as possible. We often receive a large number of applications for certain animals, so it can take a whilst to sift through these, but we are progressing adoptions as quickly as possible, so please bear with us.
If you have submitted an online form, please be patient and we will call you when we are in a position to proceed. Please do not call us to follow up forms that you have submitted.
If you currently have an animal you can no longer care for, please submit details using the online form on our website HERE.
Details will be added to our waiting list. We will contact you when we are in a position to take the animal into our care. This depends on the number of animals already waiting to come into the Centre, as well as prioritising admissions from the RSPCA Inspectorate team. We are currently unable to deal with these enquiries by ‘phone, but by completing the form, your animal’s details will be logged straight to our system.
We are regularly reviewing Government guidance and plan to gradually return to our normal operations as lockdown rules ease. Updates will be published here as changes permit.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
