Each of the 171 RSPCA Branches in England and Wales is a separate registered charity that must fundraise individually to maintain whatever animal facility they run. Cornwall Branch has built the Rehoming Centre at St. Columb which costs over £500,000 every year in vets' fees, food bills, and lifesaving drugs as well as the utility bills that ensure the Venton Centre can continue to operate.
Over the years the Branch has missed out on a number of legacies from people living in the county who intended their money to help animals in Cornwall. This was because they were not aware they had to specifically identify the Cornwall Branch as the beneficiary.
A legacy or bequest will provide crucial funds to enable the Venton Centre to continue to offer our rehoming service to hundreds of abandoned, unwanted and mistreated animals every year.
If you would like the animals in your local area to benefit from your Will, we respectfully suggest your legacy wording reads:
I give devise and bequeath to the RSPCA Cornwall Branch registered charity number 1024808 the sum of £x or the whole (or a share) of my residuary estate for its general charitable purposes. I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or other proper officer of the charity shall be sufficient discharge therefore.
